About Margaret
I have been working as a tutor for over 5 years, beginning when I was recruited for the writing lab at my University. I have experience working with first-generation students, students from various ethnic and cultural backgrounds, as well as students who are differently abled.
I believe that active listening is one of the most important skills a tutor can have. I don't just need to know what 'problem' you have, but why the issue came up in the first place.
I help students build their skills and their confidence in those skills.
As a full-time skills coach, I prioritize those I'm trying to help and believe in giving back to the community.

I take an individualized approach by looking at what the student needs first.
High school English and they are an E2 learner? We start with basic content, idea flow, and structure.
College student struggling with that research paper and don't know where to start? We look at the sources first and build from there.
GED or GRE student looking to brush up on vocabulary? We start with the vernacular!
Every student is different and learns differently. With English, practice makes better. There is no such thing as "perfect" English, despite what your professor says. I can't help you have perfect grammar and punctuation.
What I can do is help you feel more confident when it comes to working with English.
