About Greyson
My name is Greyson, and I am a graduate engineering student at the University of Utah with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a 3.4 GPA. I have completed a wide range of upper-division math, science, and engineering coursework, giving me a strong and practical foundation across STEM subjects. I bring both university-level tutoring experience and freelance tutoring experience to my sessions. Through the university, I have tutored math, science, and engineering courses, working with students from diverse academic backgrounds. Over the past six months, I have also independently tutored high school students in math and science, helping them strengthen fundamentals, improve grades, and gain confidence. My teaching approach is structured, adaptive, and student-focused. I begin by assessing a student’s current understanding, then guide them through example problems before gradually reducing support as they become more comfortable solving problems independently. I am trained to tailor each session to the individual student’s learning style, ensuring concepts are presented in a way that is clear, effective, and engaging. I work professionally, reliably, and with clear expectations, and I am committed to helping students develop strong problem-solving skills that extend beyond a single assignment or exam. I am happy to work with students at any level or in any educational setting, provided I have the appropriate subject knowledge.

Teaching Method & Techniques My tutoring approach is centered on building understanding and independence through guided problem solving. I begin each session by assessing the student’s current level of understanding and identifying specific gaps or points of confusion. From there, I introduce concepts using clear, structured explanations and worked example problems. As the lesson progresses, I gradually reduce guidance, encouraging students to take more ownership of the problem-solving process while I provide targeted feedback and support. Typical Lesson Plan A typical session starts with a brief check-in to establish goals and review prior material. I then walk through an example problem step by step, explaining both the “how” and the “why” behind each decision. Students practice similar problems with decreasing levels of assistance, allowing them to build confidence and mastery. Sessions often end with a summary of key takeaways and strategies students can apply independently. What Sets Me Apart What distinguishes me as a tutor is my training and experience in adapting each session to the individual learning style of the student. I adjust explanations, pacing, and problem selection based on whether a student learns best visually, verbally, or through hands-on practice. My background as a graduate engineering student allows me to teach problem-solving strategies that are transferable across math, science, and engineering courses. Who the Lessons Are For I tutor students across a wide range of levels and educational settings, including middle school, high school, and college-level coursework. I have experience tutoring university math, science, and engineering classes, as well as freelance experience with high school math and science. I am open to teaching any student or course provided I have the applicable subject knowledge, and I focus on helping students build both competence and confidence in STEM subjects.
