About Chi Trung
For 25 years, starting in 1999, I was engaged in an educational setting. I earned my IT engineering degree from Don State Technical University in 2005, then defended my PhD in informatics at the Taganrog Institute of Technology, Southern Federal University, Russian Federation in 2009. Upon returning to Vietnam, my primary responsibilities involved teaching and curriculum development for undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in computer science at the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of IT, Vietnam’s Military Technical Academy (MTA, aka Le Quy Don Technical University).
During this period, I also contributed to developing software tools, teaching support software and providing consultation for a software company on document digitization issues. In 2013, I undertook an internship at Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University where I researched automation using finite state machines and formal language theory. In 2016, I spent six months as a visiting research fellow at Liverpool Logistics Offshore and Marine Research Institute (LOOM), working on optimizing bin-packing, 3D container loading and stacking problems.
Subsequently, I served as Deputy Dean of the Department of Computer Science until July 2022. I resigned and relocated to Australia with my family. I am now a guest researcher at the Laboratory of Computational Biology and Clinical Informatics, School of Chemistry and Molecular Biology, UQ, Brisbane. My current research focuses on patent evaluation using deep learning models. Additionally, I volunteer as an IT teacher for the Vietnamese community in Brisbane.
