About Maïlys

I give tutoring of SVT and methodology since 2012 to students in high school, undergraduate and preparatory classes BCPST. I accompany high school students throughout the school year in the preparation of the SVT Bac S, but also the Science Bac L and ES, and BPH Bac ST2S.
In 2016 I was corrector of Bac L and ES, so I am familiar with the issues and expectations of the exam.
Beyond the baccalaureate, my path in scientific research brings a plus in my support, which allows students to progress in their methodology, in connection with other subjects.

Specifically during the private lesson, I am encouraging and attentive to the student's needs and her/his particular way of understanding. I am keen to accompany the student in a positive learning, leading to progress and autonomy in the subject studied.

Typical structure of a support course:
1. I work with the student on the notions that pose difficulties, through discussions on the notions seen in class (50% of the course)
2. Written consolidation in a synthetic way of the most important points seen previously. This is also the moment to complete the documents already in the possession of the student with additional documents that I prepare and print before the course (texts, diagrams, tables, videos, online animations)
3. Training on exercices (extracts of dst, bac, exams, competition, ...) that I look for and photocopy upstream.

For the final year students, I give everyone an excerpt from the official SVT program concerning the worked part and the standard grids of correction, so that they know exactly the expectations of their level and the bac examinators.

Oral work is essential: it allows the students to verbalize the notions of the course, which they often do not have the opportunity to do in class, because most of the time they listen and take notes.
To speak and discuss makes it possible to better explain and structure thoughts, and thus to understand and learn in an efficient way.

In a general way, I insist on the methodology of resolution of exercises (in particular reasoned synthesis and analysis of documents) because:
- scientific reasoning and argumentation constitute a central axis of biology
- beyond, they are tools necessary for scientific as well as literary subjects
- finally, it provides a solid basis for further studies and professional life.

I accompany a maximum of three students per week for a better follow-up, having another professional activity at 65% (responsible for arts and sciences projects).
