About Ruby
After graduating from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2024, I’ve worked professionally as an actor - helping to develop ‘The Misbehaving Letters’ - a play for young people exploring dyslexia. I’ve also worked as an Assistant Director with Guildhall Short Courses - working with young people aged 12-15. “As an actor, she has an instinctive understanding of text, character and what is required to communicate the story truthfully and effectively. I am a Guildhall trained professional actor, with experience as an assistant director with Guildhall Short Courses and as a volunteer with the Scouting Association. I have an enhanced DBS check. Acting is very personal and the sessions would be tailored to each individual, and where they’re at. However, I would always strive to be approachable, empathetic and focused. I believe in helping people to achieve their very best through detailed, precise, focused work while fostering confidence and a sense of play. DRAMA SCHOOL AUDITIONS: My goal is for you to walk into the audition room feeling present, confident in the work you’ve done and like yourself. Together we can work on: - choosing speeches - self taping skills - exploring and mining the text - physical and vocal techniques for accessing character - understanding Shakespeare - confidence and working through nerves - staying playful and open while working on a speech LAMDA EXAM ENTRY: LAMDA exams are a great way for young people to develop skills in crucial soft skills like communication, public speaking and empathy. It’s also a fantastic way for them to work on their confidence and have fun! In our sessions we’ll work on: - speaking with confidence and clarity - techniques for text memorisation - exploring character and setting - using the imagination - using physical and vocal skills to convey character - breath control - practical exercises for confidence and presence - understanding of staging and the audience (Grade 4+) - the Stanislavski technique: objectives, actions and given circumstances (Grade 6+) - understanding historical, social and cultural context (Grade 6+)
