About Isla
With over 11 years of experience teaching guitar both in-person and online, I hold a degree in music, specializing in performance and guitar pedagogy. My teaching philosophy blends expressive playing with technical fluency, ensuring every student develops both skill and artistry. I tailor lessons to each individual, adapting to their goals, whether they are beginners just starting out, advanced players refining technique, or professionals seeking mastery. Lessons integrate music theory, fretboard fluency, rhythmic precision, and creative expression to foster well-rounded musicianship. Students explore a variety of styles, including classical, jazz, rock, and acoustic, building confidence and versatility along the way. I focus on making learning engaging, interactive, and fun, while maintaining structured progression. My approach encourages improvisation, composition, and personal interpretation, helping students find their unique musical voice. Over the years, I have guided learners of all levels to achieve their goals, from mastering foundational skills to performing confidently on stage. Every session is designed to inspire, motivate, and nurture a lifelong love for the guitar.

My teaching focuses on helping students explore the guitar as a tool for musical expression. I guide learners from basic chords to advanced techniques with clear, step-by-step methods. Lessons cover classical, jazz, electric, acoustic, and bass guitars.
I emphasize understanding musical storytelling through melody, harmony, and rhythm. Students learn to use dynamic contrast, tension and release, and theme development to make their playing more expressive. Improvisation and composition are included to help them create their own music confidently.
I also focus on music theory, ear training, and rhythm practice to strengthen overall musicianship. Together, we explore different genres, adapting techniques to fit rock, worship, jazz, and acoustic styles. Students are encouraged to develop their unique sound while mastering technical skills.
I provide personalized guidance, helping each learner excel in performance, recording, or live settings. My lessons are interactive, fun, and goal-oriented. Students gain confidence, creativity, and a deeper connection to music. By the end, they not only play guitar—they tell stories through it.
