About Nova
I have 8 years of experience teaching guitar to students of varying skill levels, from absolute beginners to advanced performers. I hold an M.Mus in Contemporary Guitar Performance and Music Education, equipping me with a deep understanding of technique, creative expression, and effective pedagogy. My teaching philosophy balances structured skill development with personal artistic exploration, fostering well-rounded, confident guitarists.
In lessons, I cover chord progression, scales, arpeggios, fingerstyle, improvisation, soloing, rhythm, tone shaping, and performance skills. Each session is tailored to the student’s goals and interests, creating a supportive and engaging learning environment. I focus on nurturing both technical proficiency and artistic individuality, helping students discover their unique musical voice.
Beyond teaching, I actively perform, compose, and explore diverse musical genres, integrating these experiences into lessons. Witnessing students grow in skill, creativity, and confidence is immensely rewarding. My mission is to inspire lifelong engagement with music, enabling students to express themselves fully through the guitar.

Guitar lessons are most effective when students combine technical precision with expressive creativity. I emphasise fingerstyle technique, chord progression mastery, scales, arpeggios, improvisation, soloing, rhythm, tone control, and performance readiness. Lessons are highly interactive, incorporating exercises, repertoire study, improvisational challenges, and creative composition, allowing students to explore music deeply and personally. Students are encouraged to experiment, develop their musical identity, and communicate emotion through the instrument, building both skill and confidence.
My lesson plans are tailored to the student’s experience and goals. Beginners learn basic chords, strumming patterns, finger placement, and simple melodies. Intermediate learners develop soloing techniques, complex chord structures, improvisation, and expressive phrasing. Advanced students tackle intricate pieces, technical exercises, composition, advanced improvisation, and performance preparation. Each lesson integrates structured skill-building with creative exploration and personalised feedback to ensure meaningful progression.
