About Leah
I have 8 years of experience teaching guitar, supported by a Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance and Contemporary Music Studies. My journey with guitar began with its expressive versatility and its capacity to convey emotion. I have guided beginners discovering their first chords, intermediate players refining technical and creative skills, and advanced students preparing for performance and composition projects. Teaching guitar is deeply fulfilling because it allows me to merge technical precision with artistic exploration, helping students find their individual musical voice.
My teaching style is structured, encouraging, and adaptive. I focus on foundational technique while fostering creativity and self-expression. Students receive clear step-by-step guidance, constructive feedback, and motivational support to explore new skills confidently. I believe that learning guitar is most effective when students feel both challenged and inspired to experiment, ensuring long-term progress and enjoyment.
Outside teaching, I actively perform, compose, and explore new musical styles. This keeps lessons dynamic, relevant, and stimulating for students. Watching learners develop technical mastery, musical understanding, and expressive confidence is immensely rewarding. In my lessons, I focus on finger dexterity, chord transitions, strumming patterns, improvisation, and solo techniques while fostering creativity and musical intuition. Each session is designed to challenge learners in a supportive, encouraging environment, ensuring steady skill development while maintaining engagement and motivation. Lessons incorporate real-world repertoire, interactive exercises, and creative projects that allow students to explore their musical voice while building strong technical foundations.
Lesson content is tailored to the student’s current level and goals. Beginners concentrate on basic chords, rhythm exercises, simple melodies, and posture, gradually building confidence and coordination. Intermediate students refine fingerpicking, barre chords, improvisation, timing, and solo phrasing, exploring more complex musical styles. Advanced learners focus on performance preparation, expressive interpretation, original composition, ensemble collaboration, and advanced technical mastery. Exercises, practical applications, and constructive feedback are incorporated to ensure comprehensive growth and musical fluency.
Over time, guitar lessons help students build confidence, discipline, and artistic creativity.
