About Alan
I’m a professional guitarist, musician, and audio engineer with over 10 years of experience playing guitar across a wide range of styles. I’ve performed at festivals, written and released original music, and worked both on stage and in the studio with artists and record labels.
I offer friendly, beginner-focused guitar lessons designed to help you build confidence, proper technique, and real musical understanding from day one. My lessons focus on learning songs you love, developing solid rhythm and chord skills, and understanding how music actually works — without unnecessary pressure.
As the founder of a professional recording studio in Ireland, I bring a trained ear and a practical approach to teaching, helping students improve timing, tone, and musical feel. My Approach to Guitar Lessons Whether you're picking up a guitar for the first time or looking to expand your technique and musicality, my lessons are designed to be engaging, flexible, and tailored to you.
I aim to make learning the guitar a rewarding and enjoyable experience, built on clear progress and genuine creativity. Techniques & Teaching Methodology My approach blends practical skills with musical expression.
I adapt each lesson to the student's interests—whether that’s folk, rock, blues, fingerstyle, or songwriting.
Lessons typically include: Chord progressions, strumming patterns, and rhythm fingerpicking and lead techniques Music theory and ear training applied directly to the instrument Learning songs by ear or with notation/tabs Improvisation and composition guidance, for students who want to create their own music I also encourage students to bring in music they love we use it as a springboard for technique and learning.
Lesson Structure Most lessons are 60 minutes, structured around a mix of warm up, skill-building, and song-focused work. I ensure that each session ends with a sense of achievement and a clear takeaway for practice.
