About Briar
I am a passionate guitar instructor with a Bachelor's degree in Music and 9 years of teaching and performance experience. My journey began with a deep love for string instruments, which led me to formal music education and countless hours of practice, stage time, and collaboration with musicians across various genres. Over the years, I’ve taught students of all ages and skill levels, from those picking up the guitar for the first time to intermediate players aiming to break creative barriers. My teaching style is practical, encouraging, and tailored—focused on building strong fundamentals while allowing room for personal expression and exploration. I believe in blending technique with creativity. While I emphasize precision in areas like rhythm, finger placement, and theory, I also encourage students to experiment, compose, and discover their unique sound. Each lesson is a step toward helping students not only play music but feel it. Beyond teaching, I stay active as a performer and learner, continuously exploring new styles, gear, and methods to keep lessons engaging and relevant. I see guitar not just as an instrument, but as a lifelong companion—and I aim to pass that joy and connection on to every student I teach.
