About James
I have being a professional musician for over 20 years and have being a Guitar teacher & music tutor for over 18 years.
I have A Level music (grade A) and grade 8 in guitar and bass.
I have played with many professional bands best known was The Tony Carnegie Show which Sam Bailey who later went on to win XFactor was a co-member of the band.
I have also shared a stage with Joe Brown.

For beginners i teach using songs, this gives the pupil a way of learning chords notes and playing skills and it gives them confidence because they can play something, I always teach a new pupil to play something in the first lesson.
As they get more advanced pupils will learn notes names on their instrument and scales.
I use songs for the pupils to use as a case study of how the chords are used and how the song was constructed.
At this point i would expect pupils to be playing along to backing tracks, this i
gives the experience of playing in a band and helps pupils skills to develop quickly.
Behind this more advanced theory such as musical modes and key changes, chord theory to understand and find the notes from major and minor scales and how they relate to modes and advances chor
Pupils would be developing songwriting, composition and digital recording.
No expensive equipment is needed for this just a guitar an amp, computer and microphone. There is plenty of free recording software I can recommend.
When the student has written something to a good standard I will help them upload there song to YouTube for example and help them to try to get there music played on the radio.
