About Isla
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Music with specialisation in guitar and bring six years of teaching experience. I have guided students of all ages and skill levels, using a teaching style that balances structure with flexibility so learners can progress comfortably at their own pace. Beyond teaching, I stay engaged as a performer and continuously study new teaching methods. By remaining active in both practice and performance, I am able to bring fresh techniques, creative approaches, and practical insights into my lessons, making them relevant and inspiring for students. What I value most is helping students discover their confidence and musical voice through the guitar. I adapt lessons to each learner’s unique strengths, celebrating progress along the way. My goal is to encourage both technical mastery and lifelong enjoyment of music.

My lessons begin by focusing on the core foundations of guitar playing, including posture, tuning, and basic chord progressions. Students work on rhythm, strumming patterns, and finger exercises that strengthen coordination and fluency. These skills prepare learners to approach songs and techniques with confidence from the very start. As progress develops, I introduce scales, improvisation, and ear training to connect technique with creativity. Students explore different styles such as classical, acoustic, rock, or blues. By applying lessons to real songs, they not only improve technical ability but also develop musical expression and personal style. Each lesson is tailored to individual goals, whether preparing for graded exams, learning for performance, or playing for enjoyment. Through step-by-step explanations, consistent feedback, and encouraging practice strategies, I ensure learners experience steady improvement while building confidence and a deeper appreciation for the guitar.
