About Nico
I’m a guitar tutor with over 10 years of experience and a Graduate Certificate in Advanced Guitar Studies. My passion lies in helping students unlock their ears as deeply as their hands. I specialize in advanced ear training for guitarists, and I believe that great players don’t just play well—they listen deeply. I guide students in transcribing solos note for note, training their ears to catch subtle bends, phrasing, and rhythmic details. We also work on recognizing chord progressions by ear, using real music examples across genres. I help students move beyond tabs and sheet music to truly *hear* and understand what’s going on musically. For those interested, I offer exercises to help develop relative and even perfect pitch. My approach blends listening drills, singing intervals, and guitar-based ear training methods to sharpen accuracy and speed. Whether you’re preparing for studio sessions, improvisation, or composing, a strong ear is key. I’ve worked with guitarists from intermediate to professional levels who want to expand their musical independence. My guitar teaching approach is all about exploring music with curiosity and flexibility. We explore multiple genres—funk, metal, country, jazz—and learn how to adapt your playing style to fit different sounds. Whether it’s palm muting for rock, hybrid picking for country, or complex rhythms for funk, I guide you through it step by step. You'll learn how to listen, analyze, and play with intention.
My lessons include technique-building, tone shaping, and creative exercises that keep your playing fresh and exciting. I also help students break through ruts and push their limits through improvisation and ear training. For those who want to record or write their own music, I offer support in structuring ideas and creating full songs.
