About Daryl
I have worked professionally in the performing arts since the age of 5. I attended a prestigious boarding school for the arts my last year of high school where I received added training and preparation for a career in the performing arts. After graduation, I went to a college recognized for its excellence in training ballet and modern dance. Then I went on to perform all over the United States and some countries abroad such as South America, China and Japan in various ballet, modern and musical theater productions. Eventually I retired from dance and decided to go back to school to obtain an education in the liberal arts-something that was unavailable to me because of my commitment to dance and music. Currently, I teach and practice Iyengar yoga in the Houston area where I live.

I have a distinct portfolio of life experiences personally and professionally that enables me to provide the student with a broad range of vocabulary and cultural context. In my previous life, the performing arts has given me oppurtunities to work abroad coming into contact with people from other cultures and backgrounds. The way that I work is that I simply engage in conversation with the student and see where the dialogue leads. This ensures that the student knows how words are used in the context that they are made with the given cultural lensing which where much of language is understood.
