About Diosdado
Diosdado “Dio” Gica was the President of Programs and Operations for ICD-Institute for Career Development, a not-for-profit workforce development organization for people with disabilities based in New York City.
Prior to that, Dio served as the Director of Learning and Literacy at Queens Library, and as Executive Director at the YMCA of Greater New York. Lastly, Dio participated in the NYC Fellows Program where he taught English Language Arts at Transit Technology, a high-needs high school in East New York.
Dio received his EdD (Doctorate Degree) in Education from Fordham University and his MA (Master of Arts) and Permanent NYS Teacher Certification from Brooklyn College in NYC. Finally, Dio received his BA from Wabash College in Indiana.

My teaching method and techniques are based on truly assessing strengths and weaknesses, then focus on building up knowledge gaps with real-life examples. A typical lesson plan would explore topics that are tied to the week's lesson plans, so that language learning is always contextualized based on the week's subject focus.
I am a non-native English speaker myself, but I've spent a lifetime in the U.S. studying English language and literature. So, now I would like to teach others like myself with tested and proven effective strategies. My lessons are for those with academic degrees or certifications. Or if you are a true beginner and at an intermediate level English speaker.
