My name is Emily, and my tutoring approach focuses on active practice, clear explanation, and building student confidence. I believe students learn best by doing, so lessons are centred around guided practice, exam-style questions, and regular feedback rather than passive listening. I break topics down into manageable steps, check understanding frequently, and adapt each lesson to suit the individual student’s pace and needs. I also place strong emphasis on exam technique, helping students develop effective strategies for SATs, 11+, and GCSE exams.
Lessons are one hour long and are carefully structured to include review, focused teaching, practice, and feedback. I teach students from Year 2 to Year 11, supporting both primary and secondary learners. I am DBS checked and have extensive experience as a swimming teacher, meaning I am confident in delivering structured lessons, managing behaviour, and working with children of different ages and abilities. My tutoring is suitable for students who need extra support, confidence-building, or targeted exam preparation.
