About Janani
Through working as a mentor at Medic Mentor’s summer school programme, I understand the importance of tailoring the sessions to the students’ needs to ensure that they are able to write a personal statement that is the best reflection of themselves. I ensure that I understand what the student envisions for their personal statement to help them turn these ideas into words on a page, which can often be the most difficult task. As a medicine ambassador at university, I have worked at multiple open day events and have an up to date knowledge of what the admissions team are looking for in prospective applicants. I hope to use this expertise, alongside what I have learnt about the student through talking about their own experiences, to construct an excellent personal statement. I have worked with several students on a 1:1 basis to help them achieve offers from their dream universities through supporting them with their personal statement and interview preparation.

Medicine personal statement writing can seem like a very daunting task and students often feel like they don’t know where to start with it. From my past experience, I have worked with students both individually and in groups to help them craft a personal statement that they are proud of and will maximise their chances of getting to the interview stage of the application process. Once past the personal statement writing hurdle, students must tackle interviews. Through my experiences, I feel confident in preparing students for both MMI and panel interviews. There are various topics that are commonly tested and I will guide students through how to approach these whilst showcasing their personality to the admissions tutors to secure themselves a place to study medicine at university.
