Repetition is my best teaching methodology it improve one's memory. It's difficult to learn something you never seen before but learning becomes much more easy once your brain has come across certain information. I usually tell students to watch YouTube videos on what we about to cover in class and to pre-read before we meet in class, it help for the students to understand the concept of what we about to cover in class, although they not fully understand the whole chapter but they would know what is chapter based on. I usually tell student to make their own questions off anything information they feel is important in while reading through the chapter. Once they are done reading the chapter they should go through those questions they made and try to answer those questions, they can go through those questions repetitively until they are able to answer all questions. In class we would do questions papers and they would sit in groups trying to answer question papers. Once they are done we check if they gave correct answer by answering the questions from the question papers in class. Students would participate in class and I would just help them were they struggle. I would also tell student that during the time they study they can mark the chapter, concept or any information the struggle to understand, and bring it class when we meet so I can help them understand where they find problems.
