About Emmie
I am currently on a gap year and will be studying German and Russian at Manchester university next year, having just finished my A levels this summer. After also travelling around Europe this summer, it was very apparent to me that German was everywhere! That was great for me of course, as I love the language, but it reminded me of a few years ago, when I was in my GCSE German class and my peers absolutely hated it! People can be very reluctant to learn a language, especially German, but with the right help, I really think it can be a fun experience. Next spring I am going to stay with a family in Northern Germany and am then planning on living in Berlin by myself for a while, until then, I'll be happy to help GCSE and A level students.

My lessons would focus on how the student needs to improve but could cover German Literature (Der Vorleser), Film (Goodbye, Lenin!), translation, listening, reading and speaking. I believe languages are one of the most beneficial things a child can learn, helping them to communicate better and have a wider understanding of other cultures and communities. I studied AQA at GCSE and Edexcel at A level but if there is a specific exam board then I would be happy to familiarise myself with the course.
