About Laila
Having worked with students for many years, I've found that Theory & Skills objectives are often best achieved through one-on-one interaction. Individual instruction in musicianship develops confidence, simplifies and strengthens content while encouraging retention and improving transfer to the next class. This format gets proven results, not just higher grades, the evidence of which continues to emerge, providing a strong basis for continued musicianship. Lessons are currently offered in: Basic Fundamentals, Music Theory/Aural Skills 1- 4 (including Sight-Singing, Pitch match and Tonal retention), advanced Theory couses, graduate Theory review and Thesis-Dissertation review/editing. If you need more help than current classes provide, you're not alone. Seek out qualified help, before falling behind. I am here to help!

I am a patient and encouraging Music Theory professor, degrees earned from the renowned University of North Texas (BM, MM, PhD) with a proven track record for supporting student musicians as they transition to various levels of college study. With years of research and practically developed approaches for Theory & Skills mastery, I am known for my commitment to student musicians, helping them to make meaningful connections between concept and sound, simplifying otherwise too-complex matters. For the college music student, needing help with Theory & Skills is not at all unusual: I offer that support in affordable, online lessons, carefully planned toward student goals and coursework needs.

Details
Graduate level lessons are $60 base rate per hour, depending upon course and student need; thesis and dissertation support and editing begins at $75 per hour, with 48 hour turn around on notated corrections back to student.
