  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and private tutoring?

I started developing an interest in tutoring in 7th grade when I had a community project to help others. My community project was holding a math tutoring circle twice a week after school for 3rd to 5th graders at my school. Since then, I've been tutoring every week :)
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach and the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you want a little less).

I love teaching algebra because, after a few lessons, I always see the moment when the numbers finally click. My students understand precisely what's happening and are no longer scared of tackling those math problems.
I also love teaching English because it always comes when your student tells you that they are no longer thinking when they are speaking or writing in their language and then translating, the words are just coming to them, and that moment for me as a teacher is just magical.
  • Did you have any role models; or a teacher that inspired you?

I had a 5th-grade math tutor who inspired me my whole life; she changed my thoughts about teachers. She was the most caring and prominent advocate for her students, ensuring they all succeeded. I will never forget her and always try to be the same person for my students.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

Patient, Compassionate, emphasizing with students, Adaptable, and excellent at communication.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

I have always been a very competitive person. In 5th grade, my parents started enrolling me in academic competitions, and I soon realized that I could achieve great results if I worked for them. So I practiced mathematics daily until I finally qualified for international competitions. After competing at my first international competition (WMTC), we moved to the United States. I, at best, knew the English language at an intermediate level at that point and was always at the top of my class. It was a struggle adjusting to not understanding concepts due to my inability to communicate. So I worked hard to excel and become fluent in continuing to compete in mathematics. Soon that competitive passion changed to swimming, but my ambition for math stayed, and I always hoped to make students fall in love with math as I did. In ESL, I tried to help my students so they didn't have to face the rigid barrier of miscommunication alone.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or are still meeting in your subject?

None of us are robots, so still, to this day, I experience mind blocks or uncertainty; however, teaching others is also a constant reassurance to myself that mistakes are just the first step to success.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject, or something completely different?

I love connecting with people and have a passion for lending a hand to others. From a young age, I started tutoring, a skill I Never put aside. It's more than a job to me; it is part of my life, and I plan to continue it.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions:-P)?

I can connect, switch modes and think on my feet. I will make sure you get to experience quality skills for every single minute of your class. In classes, you are going to be my only worry. Outside of class hours, I go above and beyond to ensure my students' academic and mental needs are met. I'm not just a tutor; I try to be a lifelong friend.
