About Irene
Hi, I'm Irene. I am a dedicated high school STEM student with a strong academic focus in science. My coursework includes Honors Chemistry along with advanced mathematics and science classes, where I have developed strong analytical thinking and scientific reasoning skills. These rigorous courses have strengthened my ability to understand chemical principles and apply them to complex problems.
Through my studies, I have built a strong foundation in chemical reactions, atomic structure, stoichiometry, and scientific problem solving. Working through advanced coursework has helped me develop effective study strategies and the ability to break down challenging chemistry concepts into clear, manageable steps.
Because I am currently taking advanced STEM classes within the high school curriculum, I am familiar with the expectations, pacing, and types of problems students encounter in chemistry classes. This allows me to explain concepts in ways that are directly relevant to what students are learning in school.
I am passionate about helping students succeed academically in chemistry. My goal is to help students strengthen their understanding of fundamental concepts, improve their confidence in challenging material, and develop the skills they need to approach chemistry problems logically and independently. I am eager to share my enthusiasm for science with others.

My goal as a tutor is to help students build confidence while truly understanding the chemical concepts behind what they are learning. Rather than simply memorizing formulas or reaction types, I focus on helping students understand why chemical processes work the way they do, because that is how I learn best as well. When students understand the reasoning behind chemical principles, they are much better prepared to approach unfamiliar problems and apply concepts to new situations. My philosophy is that learning chemistry should be interactive and curiosity driven, so I encourage students to ask questions freely and think through problems out loud as we work together.
During lessons, I typically begin by identifying the student’s current understanding and any areas of confusion. From there, I explain concepts step by step using clear examples, visual reasoning, and chemical logic when helpful. I encourage students to ask questions throughout the lesson, because these questions often reveal important gaps in understanding that we can address together. After introducing the concept, we work through practice problems so students can apply what they learned with guidance. As students become more comfortable, I gradually allow them to solve problems independently while I provide feedback and strategies for improvement.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my ability to explain complex chemical ideas in a simple and approachable way while creating an environment where students feel comfortable speaking up. As a current high school STEM student, I understand the challenges students face in chemistry classes and can relate to the pace and expectations of the curriculum. I aim to create a supportive learning environment where students feel confident asking questions, exploring different ways to approach chemical problems, and strengthening their scientific reasoning.
My lessons are designed for high school students taking honors or regular level chemistry courses. I can help with homework support, concept review, test preparation, and strengthening foundational skills in topics such as chemical reactions, stoichiometry, atomic structure, and chemical problem solving.
