About Kelly
I have a Bachelor of Education from Rhodes University in Makhanda, South Africa, obtained in 2001.
I taught in London, UK for 9 years, first as a relief teacher in primary schools. Then as a Year 1 teacher in private schools for five years. I also worked as a private tutor during this time, working with ESL pupils. These were children between the ages of 6 and 11, who had moved to England from countries such as Spain and Germany and were looking to develop their English speaking, writing and reading.
In South Africa I have taught as a Grade 0, Grade 1 and a Grade 2 teacher, in a variety of school settings. I have always focused on a child-centered way of teaching, ensuring the children enjoy learning. I love to use games and stories to help children learn!

I focus on developing English language skills tailored to the age and current proficiency level of your child. Some children may need engaging, fun games and activities to consolidate the phonics, word recognition, sentence writing and reading they are doing at school. While other children (especially ESL pupils) may need lessons aimed more at the spoken aspect of the language, before they can develop their reading and writing in the second language.
I would like to connect with your child's teacher very briefly prior to beginning lessons, in order to get a better understanding of where YOUR child is and their immediate language needs.
