About Dane
I am a Professional Musicianship (Drums) Undergraduate, and have played drums for 14 years.
I have been teaching free-lance for 4 years, and I am also currently employed as the in-house Drum Tutor at Soundhouse Gloucester. I have focused particularly on teaching younger or beginner learners. I am fully enhanced DBS checked.
I also specialise in posture and technique for more experienced drummers.

As a tutor, my ultimate goal is to ensure the student is showing tangible progression, whilst also providing a positive and supportive learning environment.
The first step in my teaching methodology is:
- Identify the individual needs of the student. I will speak with the student, find out their previous experience, initial knowledge, natural ability, and any areas of focus they may have. I will also try to determine which teaching methods they are most receptive to.
- Construct a specific musical curriculum based around those needs. Based on the students answers, interests, and performance in the first few teaching sessions, I will put together a program which I believe will benefit them most in their learning. I will collate musical learning materials and design personal practice routines.
- Assess the students' progress and adjust the curriculum accordingly. I will conduct small, informal assessments of the student, and then continually alter the program I have made to ensure the student is always receiving the most relevant tuition. Any interests that the student develops while learning I will always accommodate into the program.
I also consider my teaching manner to be absolutely vital in providing the best tutoring service. I make it a priority to build rapport with all my students, and to be as personable and supportive as possible during all teaching sessions.
