About Ifa

I am a highly experienced and qualified English teacher (PGCE with QTS). I have taught in various settings including mainstream, independent schools, SEND schools. I also offer 1:1 online tuition. I am passionate about inspiring young people to enjoy English and derive value and meaning from their studies. I consistently engage, inspire and develop excellence. As Head of Department I have also designed curriculums, individualised learning plans, moderated coursework and mocks. I am a passionate and dedicated English tutor with a proven track record of helping students achieve top GCSE results and grow in confidence. With a first-class degree in English Literature from Lancaster University, I bring a strong academic foundation to my teaching. I am new to this platform so here are some snippets of reviews left by parents and students in the past on other platforms: "Life-changing experience — my son made tremendous progress thanks to Ifa’s ability to explain complex concepts clearly. She engages with my son attentively throughout the entire session, ensuring that he remains focused and motivated without even realising how much he’s learning."- Nadia (parent) "She helped my daughter achieve outstanding scores in English Literature and Language, just a few marks away from a perfect grade 9."- Biji P (parent) Ifa is an incredibly kind and dedicated tutor. She explains topics with patience and clarity, making learning enjoyable and accessible. She’s very supportive and she helped me grow in confidence.- Maria (A-Level student) "She is able to explain difficult A level texts in depth and help me understand complicated ideas… I have definitely seen an improvement in my knowledge and writing skills."- Amalia (A-level student) "I work as a Headteacher and have worked with many teachers over the years and Ifa is fantastic."- Priyanka (parent) "She teaches with high expectations and makes the hour’s lesson count… A first class teacher."- Lucy (parent) "She is calm and encouraging. Ifa structured the lessons to suit his needs perfectly, and used books and references which he is familiar with and enjoys. This personalised approach really helped him to engage and enjoy the lessons whilst learning the concepts being taught."– Barney F (parent) My teaching combines patience, clarity, and enthusiasm for English with strategies that deliver real results. I adapt to each student’s unique learning style and provide encouragement every step of the way.

Each lesson is personalised, engaging and productive. Regular feedback is a cornerstone of my teaching approach. I guide students in understanding mark schemes, mastering essay structures, and meeting exam requirements. All of my students have attained at least 2 grades above their predicted grade and some have even attained 3-4 grades higher. By identifying their strengths and areas for improvement, I work collaboratively with the student. I build confidence and foster growth. My patient, supportive, and flexible approach ensures that students feel comfortable and motivated to excel. My students range from KS3- A Level. I have extensive experience teaching across a variety of syllabuses, including : AQA, PEARSON EDEXCEL, IGCSE, IB, Functional Skills, and WJEC. I also teach home-schooling students.
