About Joy
Hello! My name is Joy, and I recently graduated with an Honors Specialization in Genetics and a Minor in Psychology. Throughout my degree, I developed a strong foundation in biology, genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, and related life sciences, while also gaining valuable research experience in a cancer genetics laboratory. I understand that science can feel overwhelming, and my goal is to make even the most challenging concepts clear, logical, and approachable. I am patient, encouraging, and committed to helping every student build confidence alongside their academic skills. Whether you need ongoing support, help preparing for exams, or clarification on difficult topics, I provide a professional, supportive learning environment where questions are always welcomed and every lesson is tailored to your individual needs. My priority is not only helping students achieve higher grades but also helping them genuinely understand and enjoy science.

As an Honours Genetics graduate with a minor in Psychology, I tailor each lesson to the individual learning style and goals of my students. Rather than focusing on memorization, I help students understand the underlying concepts so they can confidently apply their knowledge to exams and assignments. I break down complex topics into simple, manageable steps, use diagrams, practice questions, and real-world examples, and regularly check for understanding throughout each session. My lessons are interactive, supportive, and paced according to the student's needs. Whether you're a high school student taking biology for the first time, a university student tackling genetics or molecular biology, or preparing for exams such as the MCAT, I strive to build both knowledge and confidence in a positive, encouraging environment. My strong academic background, research experience, and genuine passion for teaching allow me to explain challenging scientific concepts in a way that is clear, engaging, and easy to understand.
