About Greg
I am a New Zealand English teacher with more than 20 years of experience, specialising in IELTS preparation and Business English. I am also a qualified IGCSE English as a Second Language oral examiner, giving me considerable experience in assessing spoken English.
I have extensive experience teaching adults and professionals, both individually and through corporate programmes. I have delivered English training across a wide range of industries, including hydropower, mining, automotive, hospitality and tourism.
For IELTS students, I focus on developing the language, thinking and exam skills needed to improve performance, with particular attention to speaking and writing. I have successfully prepared students for IELTS, including students who have gone on to achieve Band 7.5.
For professional learners, lessons are practical and tailored to your work, industry and communication needs. My aim is to identify what you need to improve and develop the skills and confidence to use English effectively in real situations.

Lessons may include speaking practice with detailed feedback, guided essay planning and writing, reading strategies, listening analysis, vocabulary development and examination technique. I explain why an answer succeeds or fails and teach you how to apply the same thinking independently.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, although longer sessions can be arranged when appropriate. Lessons are primarily for teenagers and adults preparing for Academic or General Training IELTS, from intermediate to advanced level.
I have more than 20 years of teaching experience and completed the IDP IELTS Teacher Training Program. My approach is direct, supportive and adapted to the individual learner rather than based on a fixed course for everyone.
