  • Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

Mathematics is often seen as a challenging subject, but I view it as a universal language of problem-solving. My deep interest in math actually blossomed through the act of teaching it. Over the last decade of tutoring, I discovered that I have a strong ability to break down complex concepts into easily digestible pieces. What truly fuels my passion for this field is the positive feedback from my students. Knowing that they value my knowledge and seeing that "aha!" moment when they finally understand a difficult topic has been my biggest motivator. Their trust in my expertise is what drives my love for the subject every single day.
  • What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

While my own love for learning got me started, my students and their success are my true motivation. Over the years, I’ve found that I have a deep, dual interest: I love continuously learning more about my field, and I love teaching it. When my students are happy with my classes and go on to achieve great scores on their exams, it completely validates my efforts. My students, and the tangible progress they make, are the driving force that keeps me passionate about this profession.
  • How does your work help society?

I believe my work helps society by building minds that are disciplined and capable of deep focus. Mathematics is unique because it requires a student to block out all outside noises and distractions and concentrate entirely on solving a problem. Through my teaching, I am not just helping them find the value of "x"; I am training their minds to hold focus. By creating a dedicated space where they can concentrate deeply, I am helping society build a generation of logical, focused thinkers who are equipped to tackle complex challenges without getting distracted.
  • If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

If I have to choose a role model, I look back at the collective mathematics teachers I had from my early school days all the way through university. They were exceptional individuals who balanced profound mathematical knowledge with a genuine desire to help people. What inspired me most was their energy—they were always so happy and excited to teach, which naturally created a deep curiosity in us to learn. Today, they are my role models because I strive to emulate that exact approach. I want to be the kind of educator who makes learning math an exciting, curiosity-driven journey for my own students.
  • Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

Outside of teaching, my hobbies are centered around maintaining a healthy, balanced mind. On the analytical side, I enjoy playing chess and diving into independent research, such as exploring different coding languages, which keeps my problem-solving skills sharp. However, to balance that out and decrease stress, I practice meditation. I also love listening to music while walking and exercising. These practices are essential for me; they completely cool down my mind and help me recharge, ensuring I always bring my best, most focused self to my students.
  • Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

One of the greatest perks of my profession is getting to meet a highly diverse range of people from all over the world. Because math can sometimes feel intense, I always make sure our virtual classroom is a positive space. I love to weave in simple jokes to refresh my students' minds. My favorite everyday "anecdotes" are those moments where a student is feeling overwhelmed, and a quick, shared laugh completely shifts the energy, allowing them to suddenly solve a problem they were stuck on. We laugh a lot, and it makes the learning process incredibly rewarding.
