About Mar
I have focused my education on drawing, illustration and comics at the Massana School of Arts and Crafts in Barcelona and at the LUCA School of Arts in Ghent, Belgium, as well as throughout various monographic courses in other schools such as the Joso Visual Arts and Comicbook Center (Barcelona). I’m currently combining the making of illustrated books, graphic novels and commissions with teaching any of said disciplines, with provable experience. I am also studying my second BA in Literary Studies at the University of Barcelona, with the aim of connecting a deep literary understanding with illustration as a profession.

I like to proceed by giving specialized lessons that merge both a theoretical and practical approach, keeping in mind the aims and interests of my students. For this, we will review periods of art history that may be useful to take references, learn methods, the science behind the image, and better understand who you are as an artist. We will take a look at terminology and visual laws that will help your pictures work, you will be able to investigate books and resources that I myself will lend to you, and finally, we will attack the paper, page, canvas or tablet in the form of exercises or your own body of work. Each class you’ll be introduced or lead to deepen your skills with materials and techniques that I’ll bring so that you can develop your taste without committing to purchase them immediately. As extras, we can do special activities such as going to art-related events, exhibitions, or going draw outside; in an amateur way or a professional mindset. To observe progress, I generally recommend two weekly sessions between 1 hour and a half and 2 hours each, since the process of preparation and execution can be slow at first.
