About Nick

I’m Nick, an independent DJ based in Pacific Beach, San Diego. I run my own DJ business and have played an Insomniac Events festival, so I know what it takes to go from mixing in your bedroom to playing in front of a real crowd.

I learned most of what I know by doing it. That means I remember what’s confusing when you’re starting out, and I can explain it simply without the jargon.

Outside of DJing, I graduated from SDSU with a business degree and played college soccer. Years of training taught me that progress comes from good coaching and consistent reps, and that’s how I run my lessons: patient, structured, and focused on getting you better every week.

Whether you want to play your first party or land a club gig, I’d love to help you get there.

My lessons are hands-on from minute one. You learn by mixing, not by watching me mix.

How a typical lesson runs:

-Quick warm-up on what we covered last time
-One new skill, like beatmatching by ear, phrasing, EQ blending, or transitions between genres
-Practice mixes with real-time feedback

What sets me apart: I’m a working DJ who has played an Insomniac festival, so I teach what actually matters in front of a crowd: reading the room, building energy, and recovering when a mix goes wrong. I also teach music library prep. Organizing your tracks, building playlists, and sorting by BPM, key, and genre is what separates a smooth set from a stressful one, and most beginners never get taught it.

Who it’s for: Complete beginners who have never touched a controller, and intermediate DJs who can mix but want to sound cleaner, play out at bars, clubs, or events, or put together a set that tells a story. Lessons are tailored to your gear, your music taste, and your goals.
