About Benjamin
I am currently a graduate student at Regent University in my second semester. I recently completed my enlistment as a Sonar Technician in the Navy and am originally from Whitehall, Pennsylvania. I tutored while I was in high school and worked in the Writing Center while I was working on my undergraduate degree to finance my study abroad trips in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. I currently run a Creative Writing club and Dungeons and Dragons club for adults in the Hampton area.

I tailor all my lessons to the student. My master's is focused on increasing productivity and motivation in the workplace and I believe that is a mindset that has to be started at an early age. The key to finding motivation is figuring out what a person's interests are in and utilizing those interests. Some students like videos, others prefer interaction, and still others prefer group activities. A student's motivation and ability to learn can be as varied as the student is themselves and I believe it is important to take that into account.
When creating a lesson plan, I require what is being taught over the next week and preferably I have a syllabus for the whole semester so that I can spend the time to plan, improve, and be able to prepare to tutor the course. My lectures do not include rereading any lecture material or handouts. Tutoring should augment and apply what the student is learning to not only what they are interested in, but the world around them. I cannot give a list of I do this, this, and that, because of student has a different method of learning and I tailor my lessons to them.
I specialize in teaching middle school and high school courses and able to teach all core classes although most of my experience is tutoring English.
