About Nathan
I am a curator with experience working on international exhibitions, alongside formal training at the Royal College of Art and University of the Arts London. With the art world becoming increasingly competitive, developing a strong portfolio, critical understanding, and clear direction is essential-whether for university applications or long-term careers in the creative industries.
I offer honest, experience-based guidance on both the realities of the art world and the ideas that shape it. As a curator and graduate of leading art institutions, I combine academic knowledge with practical insight—helping students not only understand art history and curatorial theory, but also how to apply it in real contexts.
My aim is to give students clarity, confidence, and a clear sense of direction, whether they are preparing portfolios, refining written work, or exploring pathways into the art and curatorial fields.

I offer specialised tutoring in art history, curatorial practice, and artist portfolio development, drawing on professional experience as a professional curator and as a graduate of the Royal College of Art, Sotheby's Institute of Art, and University of the Arts London.
Alongside academic training, I have curated international exhibitions featuring artists with connections to institutions such as the V&A, Tate, Red Brick Musuem, and MoMA. My teaching is grounded not only in theory, but in real-world curatorial practice.
Lessons are fully tailored to the student’s goals. This may include:
- Building a strong understanding of art history (GCSE to degree level)
- Developing competitive portfolios for university applications
- Writing and refining personal statements
- Learning how to curate exhibitions from concept to realisation
- Receiving professional-level feedback on artwork or written work
My approach focuses on active, structured learning and may include discussion, case studies, and targeted exercises, supported by optional homework and long-term planning.
For students interested in pursuing careers in the arts, I also offer mentoring and industry guidance, including insight into exhibitions, institutions, and curatorial pathways.
Additional options include portfolio reviews, essay feedback, and in-person gallery or museum visits where appropriate.
