About Hannah
I have always believed that confidence in thinking and writing changes a student’s trajectory. I teach because I care deeply about helping young people articulate their ideas clearly, challenge themselves intellectually, and realise what they are capable of achieving.
With a background as an International Senior Examiner and former Head of English, I bring academic rigour to my lessons — but just as importantly, I bring patience, clarity and encouragement. I particularly enjoy working with ambitious students preparing for selective schools, GCSEs, A Levels and IB, helping them move from uncertainty to control and from stress to structure.
My sessions are purposeful and calm. I value discipline, high standards and intellectual curiosity, and I work closely with students to build independent study habits that last well beyond exams.

My approach to tutoring is structured, strategic and intellectually ambitious. I work with students to develop not only subject knowledge, but clarity of thought, precision of expression and academic confidence. As an International Senior Examiner and former Head of English, I understand exactly what examiners reward — and how to help students reach that level consistently.
Lessons are carefully planned and tailored to each student. For entrance exams and 11+, I focus on vocabulary development, comprehension depth, creative writing control and reasoning fluency. For GCSE, A Level and IB students, I prioritise analytical precision, essay structure, exam technique and conceptual thinking. For high-achieving or ambitious students, I also provide academic mentoring — building independent study systems, revision planning strategies and confidence under pressure.
Sessions are interactive and purposeful. I combine direct instruction, guided modelling, timed practice and targeted feedback. Students are encouraged to think independently and articulate their reasoning clearly. I am calm but rigorous, maintaining high expectations while ensuring students feel supported and motivated.
Typical lessons are 60 minutes, though 75-minute sessions are often beneficial for older students or those preparing for competitive examinations. I teach students from Year 4 through to A Level and IB, including preparation for selective independent schools such as Brighton College, Hurst and Roedean.
With seven years teaching at Roedean (including experience within the admissions process), alongside leadership as Head of English at Knightsbridge Prep, I bring both classroom expertise and insider knowledge of competitive academic pathways. My goal is always long-term intellectual growth, not just short-term exam success.
