About Rena
Learn to Create With Confidence — And Develop Your Own Artistic Voice Welcome! I’m Rena, a Dartmouth College graduate with a degree in Studio Art and a professional artist with over 12 years of experience in drawing, painting, and creative development. My work has taken me from murals in public spaces and schools to exhibitions and galleries internationally, including in Italy. I’ve also served as Vice President of the Barbados Arts Council, where I had the opportunity to support artists, develop creative programming, and contribute to the growth of the local arts community. Alongside my own artistic practice, I have extensive experience mentoring and teaching students of different ages and backgrounds. I currently work with students both locally and internationally, helping them develop their artistic skills, explore their creativity, and build confidence in their abilities. What I love most is helping people discover what they’re capable of creating. My lessons are personalized around where you are now and where you want to go. Whether you’re picking up a pencil for the first time, returning to art after years away, or looking to take your skills to the next level, we’ll build from your individual goals and interests. Through our lessons, you’ll develop practical artistic skills while gaining a deeper understanding of your own creative process. We can work on drawing, painting, color, composition, shading, perspective, technique, creative development, portfolio preparation, or exploring new mediums. My goal is not simply for you to complete a drawing or painting during our time together. I want you to understand why something works, how to approach challenges when you get stuck, and how to make creative decisions independently. I believe learning art should be personal. Rather than asking every student to create in the same way, I work to recognize your individual strengths, interests, and creative voice while giving you the technical foundation you need to grow. Whether you’re interested in developing your skills, preparing a portfolio, exploring art as a career, or simply reconnecting with your creativity, I’ll meet you where you are and help you move forward from there. In my role as an art tutor, my approach to teaching is deeply rooted in the belief that every student possesses unique creative potential.
