About Jayasankar
Yoga has been my lifestyle since I was a kid. I did all kinds of stunts which I didn’t know were one of the yogasanas! And here I am, a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher with advanced training in yoga who specializes in Iyengar principles. I started my yoga studies by taking a Diploma in Naturopathy & Yogic Science. From then on, I conducted yoga classes efficiently at Kalaalayaa Yoga Centre, Annaamalai Matriculation School, and Surya Healing & Research Centre in Tiruvannamalai, South India. I am a direct pupil of Sri Nandakumar who studied with Guruji BKS Iyengar and the Iyengar family. I was lucky to have come across Iyengar yoga in SWAMI DAYANANDA ASHRAM, Rishikesh, India at a Residential Yoga Course conducted by my Guruji. Through the course, I learned Yoga, Vedanta Chanting, and Sanskrit. Deepening my skills and knowledge about Iyengar yoga, I accompanied and assisted my Guruji in many workshops and retreats in India for 3 years. I then continued my journey with him to pursue my work and study for 2 years in BKS Iyengar Yogashala which is situated in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I am very grateful to become a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher under his wise guidance. Throughout my yoga teaching journey, I have conducted a few classes, workshops, and retreats in Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. My personality, teaching style, and passion towards yoga have successfully gained popularity among the students. Please visit my Facebook page HERE to view more of my class photos. Yoga has changed my life in many ways. Thus, I strongly believe yoga can improve the quality of one's life. I am a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher specializing in the Iyengar yoga method. I will plan the class sequence based on the student's body condition and requirements. Regardless of whether you are a beginner or advanced student, the instructions and explanations given help you to understand better and improve further from where your level is at. For example, beginners will be given basic instructions, advanced students will be given deeper instructions to improve to the next level. Please let me know if you have certain body conditions that I need to take note of, so I can plan the sequence based on your needs. Iyengar yoga focuses on precision, alignment, timing, and sequence. You will learn the alignment which is suitable for your body and not the general alignment applied to the majority of students. This is for you to gain the precision and purpose of each asana. Each asana will be adjusted accordingly for you to feel the asana. If you do not understand, feel free to ask me questions during the class so I can adjust and explain to you on the spot. Yoga class is for you to feel refreshed and energized after the class. It is not solely an exercise.

Iyengar yoga is different from the other yoga I experienced. I am glad that Teacher Jay teach me how to align our body and understand our body well even I cannot do the perfect pose.
He is a very experienced and dedicated Iyengar yoga teacher. I always looking forward to attend his class because I felt the improvement in my body every time. His restorative class is the best with the right and comfortable props he provided!
