About Eduardo

I am a professional pianist, conservatory graduate, and the founder of "Gato Jazz Pro", a specialized online jazz academy. With 25 years of performance experience and a decade of teaching, I have studied under faculty from Berklee, NYU, and the Manhattan School of Music.

I now pass down the deep tradition of Black American Music. As an active musician in the pop and jazz scenes, I lead several ensembles and collaborate with top-tier artists globally. I don’t just teach music; I show you how to live it. Whether you are aiming for a world-class conservatory or are an adult professional seeking artistic mastery, I provide the path to exceed your expectations.

Jazz is a language, not just a genre. I teach the frameworks used by world-class improvisers to help you finally find your own voice while learning to play the tradition.

Most musicians stay at the same level for years because they lack a cohesive system. I specialize in "The Breakthrough." Every mentorship begins with a Comprehensive Musical Diagnostic where I assess your technical facility, harmonic knowledge, and ear-to-hand connection.

Using the same rigor that helped my student Raul secure a 69% scholarship to Berklee, we will build your roadmap using my Five Pillars: Ear Training, Sight-Reading, Improvisation, Technique, and Harmony. You will leave every session with professional-level clarity and high-leverage exercises to solve your specific hurdles.

Find out more about Eduardo

  • When did you first develop a passion for music and your favorite instrument?

I started playing the piano when I was 4. I can't say I've stopped ever since!
  • Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

I'm very fond of jazz, but I enjoy all its derivates, like soul and r&b. A band I've been listening to lately that I'm obsessed with is Sault.
  • Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

Each student would have their own difficult course to follow. What I love to do with my students is to find the things that they dislike doing the most in their instrument and making them fall in love with them. After all, you probably don't like them because you don't understand them well enough.
  • What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

Piano is pretty up there with all the different things our 10 fingers should be able to master. However, the intonation skills and dexterity a violin player should have is unparalleled by any other instrument (in my humble opinion).
  • What are your keys to success?

Be kind. Be hardworking and tenacious, of course. However, success is not only reached with skill. Kindness entails empathy with yourself and others. This broadens your mindset and makes you a person others want to be around of. After all, we can't accomplish everything by ourselves.
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

Bill Evans: my favorite piano player of all time.
Erykah Badu: I love her artistic vision and looks like a cool hang.
Cory Henry: One of the coolest showmen I've seen. He looks like an amazing musician and his skills are perfect.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

I'll never forget the first time I disappointed my piano teacher. Straight A's in every class except for this one, in which I got a perfect 0. I had no reason to not study, I had just been perfectly lazy and drinking a bit too much (college, am I right?). I was so sad and worried about not meeting my teacher's expectations it was too obvious for him. Calmly, he said "there's nothing to worry about until there's something to worry about; and when there's something to worry about, worrying about it won't change a thing.". That day, I finally understood that the only person I'm letting down by not being my best self is me.
  • What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

I'm very analytical and methodic. I figure out where my students are lacking and I start breaking the problem into little pieces. It's amazing how much progress one can make with a slightly different focus.
