About Amanda
My name is Amanda Brucks and I have been teaching English for 17 years. I have a BA in English and an MA in Professional and Technical Writing from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. I currently teach AP Language and Composition, Sophomore and Senior English, and Oral Communication. I enjoy helping students become proficient writers and communicators no matter if their goal is to move on to college or the workforce. I believe that the ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, is one of the most important skills students can learn and I strive to help every student I work with become the best communicator possible.

I have experience teaching multiple courses under the English umbrella. I have taught regular English to all grade levels 7-12 and I also have extensive experience teaching AP Language and Composition. Aside from English I have also taught Oral Communication, Greek Mythology, Drama, and Creative Writing. When designing lessons I like to combine hands-on, face-to-face teaching and learning with online platforms such as Edgenuity and Schoology. I also pull materials from AP Classroom as well as a multitude of other resources. I create many of my own materials and I also love to collaborate with other educators to create lessons. I love having my students collaborate as well and I try to incorporate small groups whenever I can. If I am working on any aspect of the writing process I always include opportunities for peer review and revision.
