About Maya
In 2022, I received a law degree with honors from a Top 50 university. I graduated in the top 20% of my class with a publication in a competitive journal. I was one of two students to receive a prestigious fellowship to work in Public Interest in a program that I designed for myself. Before law school, I graduated in 2018 with a dual bachelor's degree in International Relations and Art History and a minor from my university's Honors College. Additionally, I have seven years of experience working with high school students at a summer camp in upstate New York. My bar license is active and I continue to practice law on a volunteer basis. I look forward to working with your middle or high school student while I transition to a more artistic career path.

Analyzing texts, note-taking, and efficiently communicating concepts to others are essential school and workforce skills that I help students strongly develop in middle and high school. I am a patient and understanding tutor with a genuine passion for English literature and history. My lessons are for students who feel dispirited looking at a dense page of text, feel lost trying to study piles of notes, have trouble organizing their thoughts into essays, or who just want some additional support in English or social studies lessons. Depending on the needs of the client, I can help students finish assigned school coursework or design extracurricular lesson plans to expose the student to additional authors and texts. My lessons would prioritize necessary skills for the student to manage English and social studies subjects more independently: namely, reading comprehension, note-taking, effective study habits, and essay organization. I strive to make students feel confident and empowered through my tutoring. I have a law degree and a bachelor's degree in international relations and art history. I feel confident assisting students with coursework in English, Social Studies, History, and Art History classes.
