About Jack
I have had a diverse career in law, public policy, academia and theater. I have developed more than 230 training programs for bar associations, law firms, Fortune 500 companies, non-profit organizations, trade associations and local and national government agencies. With Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Edward Larson, I compiled and edited "The Essential Words and Writing of Clarence Darrow " (Random House, 2007).
A member of the Massachusetts and D.C. Bars, I was on the adjunct faculty of the Washington College of Law at the American University in Washington, DC. I'm a graduate of Harvard College and Georgetown University Law Center; my articles and essays on topics ranging from leadership and ethics to popular culture have appeared in numerous national and regional publications, and I have appeared on a variety of talk shows to discuss ethics and public policy, from Neil Cavuto’s "Your World" to NPR’s “Tell Me More."
I'm also an award-winning stage director, and founded and for 20 years was the artistic director of The American Century Theater, a professional non-profit theater company dedicated to producing classic American plays and musicals.

I begin with an assessment of the student's current skills and needs, and determine the approach likely to be most productive. Lesson plans for history and civics will include readings, videos and writing assignments. Ethics will be taught with readings, historical events and hypothetical problems. Writing skills will be taught with reading assignment, writing assignments with critiques and coaching.
I am unusual because of my mix of skills, which includes performing and directing stage plays professionally.
I am equally comfortable teaching students from the fifth grade to college age.
