About Sofiia
Hello! My name is Sofiia, and I’m a qualified English tutor with a Bachelor’s degree in English Philology, a C1 IELTS certificate, and currently pursuing my Master’s degree in the UK. I have over 2 years of teaching experience, working with children, teenagers, and adults — both in individual lessons and classroom settings. My academic interests include the differences between American and British English, which became the focus of my research work during my final year of university. I love incorporating those insights into my lessons to make language learning more meaningful and real-world based. Beyond teaching, I’ve taken part in academic exchange programmes in the USA and Germany, which broadened my intercultural experience and language skills. I also completed internships at: Lviv City Council – Department of Tourism, where I used English in professional communication, and Nadvirna Lyceum "Prestige", where I gained hands-on experience teaching high school students. In 2024, I worked as an interpreter for Ukrainian refugees at the Perrysburg Council Office in Ohio, USA, and also took part in official meetings with the Ambassador of Ukraine to the U.S. and Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur. Additionally, I was selected to join the Girls Diplomatic Academy, where I participated in lectures and workshops with diplomats, ambassadors, and members of parliament. These experiences helped me grow not only as a teacher but also as a communicator, leader, and learner. I’m passionate about creating engaging, supportive lessons that help my students feel confident and motivated in their English journey.

I believe that every student learns differently, so I always adapt my lessons to their individual goals, interests, and level. I use a communicative approach, which means a strong focus on speaking and real-life language use, while also building a solid foundation in grammar and vocabulary. A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes and includes a variety of activities — speaking practice, listening tasks, reading, and interactive grammar exercises. I also use authentic materials (videos, articles, games) to make lessons more engaging and practical. I have a BA in English Philology, a C1 (Advanced) IELTS certificate, and over 2 years of teaching experience with children, teenagers, and adults — both in groups and one-to-one. My lessons are suitable for: Beginners to advanced learners (A1–C1) Children (7+), teenagers, and adults Anyone who wants to improve speaking, grammar, or prepare for exams like IELTS or school tests Whether you need help with school English, want to sound more natural when you speak, or need to prepare for an exam — I’m here to help!
