About Maria
For over 20 years, I have taught students of all ages and levels. I am a native Russian speaker with a native fluency in English. I was born in Moscow, Russia and immigrated to the US in 1974. Since graduating in the 1980's, I have done much translation work and teaching across multiple disciplines. I take a fully integrated approach with the Russian language. I adopt my methodology to the needs of each student and believe in the joy of learning. I truly delight in sharing the love of my motherland, Russia, its people and culture.

I received my Bachelor's degree at the University of Houston, graduating Magna cum Laude, and did my Master's work at Rice University. I studied Russian pedagogy with Dr. Harry Walsh at UH and music performance at UH and Rice. I am also an award-winning pianist and organist. For over 20 years, I have been freelancing as a translator and private teacher/tutor.

Perfect! Learning Russian is important for me as I do business in Russia. Learning pronunciation AND learning the culture, manners, etiquette can only be effectively learned from a native Russian like Maria. She works at my pace and is very precise and clear in her explanations of the language and the culture. Simply put, this is the way to learn a foreign language.

I get the honor to be the first to write something about Maria! I have known this Lady for several years. I am a musician. I play the guitar. I am not yet ready to learn the piano but when I am there is no one I'd rather take lessons from than this wonderful Woman! She is of the highest integrity. Genuinely sincere. With a loving heart!
