About Skylar
I am a dedicated vocal coach with 11 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Music in Classical Voice. My approach blends technical training with creative exploration, helping students grow as confident and expressive singers. I work across multiple singing styles, from classical to contemporary, jazz, and popular music.
Lessons incorporate ear training, harmony exercises, improvisation, and music theory to develop well-rounded musical skills. I focus on building strong technique while encouraging personal expression and artistic freedom. Every lesson is tailored to the student’s goals, pace, and learning style.
I guide beginners through foundational skills and help advanced singers refine performance, range, and vocal color. Improvisation and stylistic work are integrated to make learning dynamic and engaging. Students develop not only skill but also confidence and stage presence.
My teaching emphasizes consistent progress through supportive feedback, practical exercises, and creative challenges. I focus on building strong confidence, pitch accuracy, and expressive vocal performance for every student. Lessons are tailored to individual strengths, helping singers feel secure and powerful in their voice.
I incorporate targeted breathing exercises to improve control and stamina. Vocal health routines are emphasized to protect and sustain the voice during practice and performance. These routines ensure students can explore their full range safely and confidently.
For pitch development, I use ear training apps and metronomes to strengthen intonation and timing. Recording devices help students track progress and hear subtle improvements over time. This feedback loop builds both skill and self-assurance.
Creative expression is nurtured through exercises that encourage phrasing, dynamics, and stylistic interpretation. Students learn to connect emotionally with the music while maintaining technical precision.
