About Sophie
After playing piano and flute for a decade and completing grade 8 a few years ago, I studied at Leeds Conservatoire to be a composer. I enjoy a classical training approach, but I incorporate music theory such as harmony, chords and education of other styles such as jazz and pop. I find teaching a very fulfilling and satisfying job. I enjoy seeing my students improve over time and become more confident with what they're playing. I always ask the students what they want to do in our lessons and what they would like to learn next, because I believe that if they don't wholeheartedly enjoy what they are learning then they won't improve.

I have experience teaching from age five to adults, going from beginner up to grade 7 (advanced). I can take students through ABRSM exams if requested, but I know exams aren't for everyone and I don't believe in pressuring students. After six years of teaching I have developed thorough knowledge of teaching books and exam syllabuses. My lessons are typically 30 minutes long at £15, with adults or more advanced students opting for 1 hour at £30.
