About Aaqib
I recently completed my own GCSEs, so I know first-hand what it feels like to prepare for these exams, deal with the pressure and work out which revision methods actually help.
I aim to be a patient, calm and approachable tutor. Every student learns differently, so I am happy to adapt the way I explain something until it makes sense to them. I use clear explanations, diagrams, analogies, step-by-step methods, memory tricks and hints rather than simply giving students the answer.
Although I am not a qualified teacher, I believe my recent experience is one of my strengths. I was only recently in the same position as the students I tutor, and I am still studying Maths, Biology and Chemistry myself. That means the GCSE content, exam techniques and revision process are still very fresh to me.
My lessons are suitable both for students who are struggling and need extra support and for students who are already doing well and want to push towards higher grades.

My lessons are aimed at Year 10 and 11 GCSE students studying Edexcel Maths, AQA Biology and/or Chemistry. I teach both Foundation and Higher Maths, as well as AQA Combined Science and Separate/Triple Biology and Chemistry.
I start by identifying the topics a student is struggling with and getting a clear idea of their current level. From there, I tailor lessons around what they need most, helping them stay on top of school content while still pushing them to improve without overwhelming them.
A typical lesson lasts 1 hour. I usually begin by clearly explaining the topic using diagrams, analogies and step-by-step methods. Students are welcome to make notes if they find this helpful, but I also place a strong focus on active recall so that they are actually remembering and understanding the content rather than simply copying it down.
Once I am confident that the student understands the topic, we move on to exam-style questions. A big part of my tutoring is exam technique, including understanding command words, learning what mark schemes are looking for and preparing effectively for exams. This is especially important in Biology and Chemistry, where a student can understand the content but still lose marks if their answer does not match what the exam board is asking for.
I also give practice questions or homework where appropriate and use mistakes as opportunities to identify gaps and improve understanding.
I am currently studying A-Level Maths, Biology and Chemistry and recently completed my own GCSEs, achieving an A* in Maths, A* in Chemistry and A in Biology. Because I studied Edexcel Maths and AQA Biology and Chemistry myself, I have recent first-hand experience of these specifications, their exam styles and the revision process.
My lessons are suitable for both students who need extra support and students who are already doing well but want to push towards higher grades. My aim is to keep lessons friendly and approachable while still making sure students are challenged and making genuine progress.
