About Jacob
Hello! My name is Jacob, I am 19 and I am currently taking a gap year with plans to go to Sheffield University in 2026. In future I plan to go into teaching as a profession- it is my passion, and I love having the ability to educate people about STEM, as well as being able to break down scary and difficult ideas into something more manageable and fun. It is important to me to build a rapport and working relationship with my students, and this includes understanding the student's needs and how they learn best, in order to achieve the best results. I use diagrams and analogies in order to best explain the complex ideas that STEM subjects contain, breaking down large concepts into small scenarios and analysing them to see the cause and effect, while explaining how this links with the rest of the curriculum, resulting in a more comprehensive and full understanding of the content, as well as a genuine interest in the topic. The length of a lesson varies based on what the student requires, but is usually between 30 minutes and an hour. At A level I received an A* in Chemistry, an A in Biology and a B in Maths, and received the highest grades in my year group of ~300 in secondary school. I have previous experience tutoring at GCSE level for Biology and Chemistry, and after a few months of tutoring my student went from being predicted to fail to getting 5's and 6's in these subjects. My lessons are available for anyone up to A levels, and is inclusive of all age ranges and abilities- I am able to easily adapt to suit the needs of my students.
