About Ben
I extremely enjoy teaching because I am extremely passionate about what I teach, and I would love it if people were more passionate about these STEM subjects, and I believe I explain things in such a way where you don't have to just accept a statement as true, but instead you can understand how the statement is true.

- Techniques: explaining things in a way you may not have thought about, and making more complicated topics easy to understand. I've previously done this by going more in-depth so that the reason why can be understood, rather than just taking something as a fact.
- Typical length: around an hour or an hour and a half, but whatever works for you.
- Qualifications: I have 11 GCSEs, with nothing lower than a 6, and an average grade of 7.6, including a 9 in maths, and 8's in further maths, physics and computer science. Currently working towards A*A*A at A-level. I have also worked delivering masterclasses in maths and computer science with the Royal Institution, and have taken up a STEM summer job teaching children about technology and robotics. I also took part in the British Physics Olympiad and got quite a good mark.
- My lessons are mainly aimed at year 10 or 11 GCSE students, or anyone taking GCSEs, or some AS subjects specified in the title.
- Why me? I am still in education, but have had to work out how things work with a deep understanding in order to be able to communicate content. Additionaly, I have worked at the company Next Thing Education, educating children and young people about STEM subjects, meaning I have experience tutoring young children, while still being close to their age, and thus more approachable.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
I am a coursemate of Ben's at Loughborough University, and having observed his approach to a variety of logical problems in Maths and Computer Science, I can confirm Ben is a great mathematician with excellent problem solving skills. He is great at adjusting his way of teaching to meet his tutees where they are at and work with their thinking style, not against it, which is crucial when learning something as logical as maths.
I have known Ben for nearly two years now and have found that he is a trustworthy and reliable person with a passion for teaching. He is punctual and friendly and gets on will with people of all ages. As a tutor myself I have previously recieved valuable ideas and methods that I have implemented in my own lessons. Overall, I would recommend Ben highly.
Ben is really able to relate to children and young people due to his vast experience with tutoring/mentoring at school, is his role with Next thing education and his volunteering role within the Scouts. He has proven himself to be reliable, professional and possessing all the skills of a good tutor. His passion for computer science is evident in his subject knowledge and outstanding results. He understands the subject and how to make it interesting and accessible for all. I am a secondary teacher and have known Ben for over 13 years
