About Andrea
About Me – Andie Hi! I’m Andie, a licensed educator with over 8 years of experience helping students succeed in mathematics. I earned my degree from Indiana University and have had the privilege of working with students across all grade levels—from elementary school through high school seniors. My Approach to Tutoring Math can be challenging, but with the right support, every student can learn to master it. I take a student-centered, supportive approach to teaching, focusing on building confidence and deep understanding. My sessions are structured yet flexible, adapting to each student’s learning style and goals. I use clear explanations, real-world examples, and guided practice to make concepts stick—and to show students that math doesn’t have to be intimidating. A typical lesson starts with a review of prior material, followed by focused instruction and problem-solving. We end each session with a quick recap and a plan to keep moving forward. I specialize in topics ranging from basic arithmetic and pre-algebra to algebra, geometry, precalculus, and SAT/ACT prep. What sets me apart is my ability to connect with students of all ages and make learning feel manageable and even enjoyable. I bring the patience of a teacher, the insight of a coach, and the mindset of a problem-solver to every session. Who I Work With I offer tutoring for students in grades 3–12. Whether your child needs help building foundational skills or tackling more advanced coursework, I tailor each lesson to their unique needs and pace. I also support students preparing for standardized tests or just looking to gain a stronger grasp on day-to-day math. A Bit More About Me When I’m not teaching or tutoring, you can usually find me outside—hiking, playing sports, or just enjoying fresh air. I’m a big sports fan, both as a player and a spectator, and I love how athletics teach discipline, strategy, and teamwork—skills that also apply to learning. I share my adventures with my dog, Cooper, who’s always up for a walk or a game of fetch. Thanks for taking the time to learn a bit about me. I look forward to working with you and helping your student build confidence and success in math!

My Tutoring Approach As a licensed educator with 8 years of classroom and tutoring experience, I take a student-centered approach to teaching math. I focus on building a strong foundation through clear explanations, real-world examples, and step-by-step problem-solving. My goal is to help students not only understand the material but gain the confidence to apply it independently. Teaching Methods & Techniques I adapt my teaching style to fit each student’s learning needs—whether that means breaking down complex concepts, using visual aids, or reinforcing skills through guided practice. I emphasize active participation, asking questions, and encouraging students to explain their reasoning to deepen understanding. A Typical Lesson Each session begins with a quick review of previous material or homework, followed by targeted instruction on current topics. I incorporate practice problems, interactive discussion, and tips for test-taking or homework efficiency. We close with a brief recap and a plan for what to work on next. What Sets Me Apart With a background in both elementary and secondary education, I bring flexibility, patience, and proven strategies to meet students where they are. My experience allows me to spot gaps in understanding and build customized lessons that support long-term academic success—not just quick fixes. Who I Tutor I work with students from elementary through high school (grades 3–12), covering topics such as basic arithmetic, pre-algebra, algebra I & II, geometry, precalculus, and math test prep (SAT, ACT, etc.). Whether your student needs ongoing support or help preparing for an exam, I offer personalized, engaging instruction to help them reach their goals.
