About Mattia
Hi, I’m Mattia, a live sound engineer based in London with over five years of hands-on experience in the industry. After graduating from SAE London, I began my career the old-school way — behind an analogue console in a small venue, where every night brought new challenges and plenty of opportunities to learn the art of problem-solving. Since then, I’ve worked across a wide range of environments — from intimate underground punk gigs to medium-scale festivals and corporate events. This diversity has taught me not only the technical side of sound, but also how to adapt to different artists, audiences, and clients — an essential skill for any successful engineer. I’m also a musician and music producer, which gives me a unique perspective on live sound from every angle — on stage, behind the desk, and in the studio. What drives me most is helping others discover how rewarding this job can be when it’s done with passion, purpose, and attention to detail. If you’re an aspiring sound engineer, I’m here to share the knowledge, techniques, and real-world insights that can help you build confidence and thrive in this exciting industry.

This immersive Live Sound Engineering Course is designed to give you both the technical foundation and the hands-on experience every aspiring engineer needs to succeed in real-world environments. Part One — Morning Sessions (Classroom Learning): The morning is divided into two focused lessons: Lesson 1: We’ll cover the essential building blocks of live sound engineering — including gain staging, signal flow, and microphone techniques. Lesson 2: We’ll move on to mixing techniques and a detailed mixer overview, working specifically with the industry-standard Midas M32 digital console. You’ll also receive a comprehensive PDF guide to help you review and reinforce key concepts at your own pace. Part Two — Evening Session (Hands-On Experience): In the evening, you’ll join me on-site at a live event, where you’ll apply what you’ve learned in a real-world setting. Together, we’ll work through every stage of the process — setup, sound check, show operation, and de-rig. This direct, practical experience will give you a genuine understanding of the workflow, dynamics, and timing that define live sound engineering at a professional level.
