About Iain
Hi, my name is Iain, and I'm a musician with 10+ years experience within the profesional music industry having worked as a session musician, producer, teacher to now releasing my own music under the band name Ritzi Shō.
As a session musician and artist I've played throughout the UK and have performed in both Europe and the US. Having started on Viola in primary school and then beginning to play in bands at 16 I've played with pretty much any group of musicians you can think of. From orchstras to punk groups and then jazz bands.
As well as performing I have a deep love of writing and producing, having produced music for other bands and artists too. One such ocassion involving a charity fundraising project I conducted using music I'd produced alongside my Mum and accompanied by some close friends too!
Finally, when it comes to teaching I take great care in being very aware of how my students are reacting to my guidance and instructions. A teacher must therefore be highly self aware as to exactly what they are saying and how they are saying it to their students, as well as being aware of the students themeselves, in order to get the most out every lesson. This demands both high levels of patience and self reflection which I find myself enjoying immensely when teaching.

Teaching bass guitar, guitar, music theory and production, I teach from the point of view that the song comes first. This enables me to be highly contextual and adaptable towards whatever it is that you specifically want to learn while also allowing me to listen out for the best of whatever you are doing and hoping to achieve. Regardless of skill level, I'm always aiming to make whatever you're learning to be as musical as possible; practicing scales can still sound like playing a song.
My lessons are typically an hour long but often stretch beyond this. I have over 3 years teaching experience and also hold a Bachelors Degree in Popular Music.
