About Grace
Being predominantly self-taught from KS4 onwards, I have had to tutor myself in a sense, developing ways in which I could feasibly chew through the seemingly endless core material and rephrase it into answers that would gain top marks. These methods allowed me to gain an A* in each exam/unit for every subject I took at both GCSE and A Level. After many years of this, I am able to identify ways in which individual students may work best, basing my teaching style and the intermediate work I set off of this. I currently have a couple of students across GCSE and A level, and I am looking to increase my numbers by a couple moving forward. My students and/or their parents would be more than happy to provide references if needs be! Every one of them have improved their grades by two levels or more, but the most prominent improvement has been that of their confidence in their own abilities, something I try to make a top priority. Aside from tutoring academically, I have been a mentor to my peers and those that are younger than me for many years. I have held positions of responsibility at the HRA since age 12, receiving the Jack Petchey award to recognise my ability to communicate and converse with those around me effectively. Aside from medicine, I am a keen advocate for young people's mental health. I teach assemblies on mental health in schools with Open Minds, and facilitate conversations between mental health policy makers and young people through equipping them with the skills of debate. Highlights of my work here include the workshop I delivered a workshop at the Global Ministerial Mental Health Summit in 2018. I delivered this workshop to global leaders in the field of mental health, alongside the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. I am also due to speak at an international youth mental health conference in Copenhagen this September. Through my work, I know how important it is to promote a healthy work-life balance and good mental health in my students.

Hello, I'm Grace. I am a second year medical student at Imperial College London. Largely self-taught, I have spent many years over my GCSE and A level period refining and perfecting the independent study methods that enabled me to achieve 100% A* at GCSE and 4A* at A level. I derive great joy in passing these on to my tutees throughout our time together. Watching my students develop their confidence in their own academic ability and their progression is greatly rewarding, and so tutoring is something that I will be continuing throughout medical school and into my career as a doctor. I have found that an interactive tutorial model has worked brilliantly for my students. This enables us to identify and strengthen weaker areas of understanding whilst also developing the exam technique required to ensure exam success. The lesson, however, and how the tutorial unfolds is entirely up to my student. I will run with any method of learning that a student works best with, however, I can also take the lead with my own methods if that would be preferable. Generally, we'll take a topic and go through the specification specific core material, patching up any holes in understanding on the way. After that, we tend to work through some relevant exam questions in order to understand the ways in which the exam board wants the core material phrased and shaped into answers that score top marks. Instilling confidence and self-sufficiency is paramount in my approach to teaching. I hope that by employing these skills in my students before university, they will be better equipped for long term success in higher education. I look forward to working with you. Grace :)

Grace has been tutoring our son in chemistry A level for several months. She is completely reliable, always prepared and fully engaged. She knows the subject really well and is able to explain the difficult concepts. She has started setting homework and gives useful feedback. I wholeheartedly recommend Grace!
Grace is so incredibly resourceful, making lessons fit to my sons precise learning requirements and his personality and at the same time teaching the syllabus to the highest standard. Responsive, creative and with an outstanding obvious talent for the subject .. my son is switched on engaged and enthused which is wonderful to see.
Grace has been an amazing tutor for me over the past few months, prior to her I had been trialling with many other tutors for Chemistry A-Level, however their teaching style was not as efficient as Grace's.
She explains each topic with clarity and provides great exam tips and university advice in general, would definitely recommend her service to other students! xView more recommendations
